Nickel is mainly used in the production of stainless steel and other corrosion-resistant alloys, such as nickel steel, nickel-chromium steel and various non-ferrous metal alloys. The copper-nickel alloy containing higher nickel has strong resistance to corrosion. Besides, nickel is also used in the manufacturing of hydrogenation catalyst, ceramic products, special chemical containers, electronic circuits, green glass and nickel compounds and so on.

In 2007, Shaanxi Non-ferrous Metal Holding Group Ltd. joined in with Jinchuan Group Ltd., Shaanxi Daqin Geologic & Mining Co., Ltd., and Western Mining Co., Ltd. to launch the Shaanxi Jianchaling Nickel Industry Co., Ltd. for the development of a nickel mine at Jianchaling. Currently, this work is under progress.
