Xi’an Engineering Investigation and Design Institute of China National Non-Ferrous Metals Industry was established in 1964, for the past 40 years, it has already developed into a large-sized enterprise integrating investigation, design, construction, testing and supervision enterprise of class A with strong technological strength and professionals in academic disciplines and modern investigation and testing means and high technology and management level. It has Xi’an Geotechnical Engineering Corporation of China National Non-Ferrous Metals Industry, Shaanxi Wanji Construction Supervision Co., Ltd, Xi’an Xikan Real Estate Development Co., Ltd, Shaanxi Wantong New Type Building Materials Co., Ltd.

The Institute also has branch offices in Tianjin, Shanxi, Henan, Xinjiang, Qinghai etc. The Institute is in the first group of comprehensive type and class A engineering investigation units and first grade foundation bed and foundation engineering foundation professional contracting enterprises inspected and approved by the national-level authority, it has obtained the honorary titles of “National Advanced Engineering Investigation Unit”, “China Top 100 Investigation Design Units in comprehensive strength” and “China Construction System Enterprise Reputation AAA Grade Unit” and has been evaluated as “ Contract-honoring and Promise-keeping Enterprise” by Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government for consecutive years, and it was evaluated as “ Honest Unit in Investigation and Design Industry in Shaanxi Province and China” in 2007.

The Institute also has Class A Qualification Certificate for Surveying and Mapping, Class A Qualification Certificate for Engineering Consultation,First Grade Qualification Certificate for Evaluation of the Earthquake Resistance on Engineering Site”, Qualification Certificate for Engineering Investigation, Design, Construction, Evaluation for Geologic Hazard Prevention and Control, Second Grade Qualification Certificate for Supervision, Qualification Certificate for Drilling, Qualification Certificate for Building Axis Survey, Qualification Certificate for Artificial Foundation Testing. The Institute has already passed GB/T 19001-2000—ISO9001:2000 Quality System Certification, GB/T 24001-2004—ISO 14001：2004 Environmental Management System Certification and GB/T 28001-2001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System Certification and National Metrological Authentication

The Institute has 724 employees, including 438 engineering technical personnel in different academic disciplines, there are 11 experts enjoying Government Special Subsidy, there are 36 national registered geotechnical engineers, and 12 national registered advisory engineers, 48 national registered construction engineers (including 15 first grade engineers, 33 second grade engineers), 119 national grade project managers, 44 national and provincial registered supervising engineers, having nearly 1000 equipments and instruments including geotechnical engineering construction equipment, drilling machine, geotechnical test instrument, in situ test set, engineering surveying instrument, geophysical prospecting instrument, computer etc.

Tens of years, the Institute has played an active role in engineering investigation development and technological progress in China, and it has already developed into a comprehensive type of scientific and technological enterprise with multi-specialty and multi-academic discipline. The existing business includes geotechnical engineering investigation, design and consultation; geotechnical engineering control; geotechnical engineering testing; surveying and mapping engineering and consultation; hydro-geological investigation and consultation; supervision and consultation; in addition, the Institute has accumulated rich experience in engineering investigation and research for many years, and has obtained great achievement. Since 1986, it has successively been awarded 28 scientific and technical progress rewards at national level, ministerial & provincial level and 68 excellent engineering rewards, and the Institute prepared and participated in preparation of 29 industry standards at national level and ministerial & provincial level, of which, there were 17 standards obtaining prizes.

Xi’an Geotechnical Engineering Corporation of China National Non-Ferrous Metals Industry established in 1984 has achieved the better economic benefit and social benefit by adopting new technique and new technology, new equipment for new market development based on its strong technical strength and rich working experience. In addition, it has allocated a great number of technical personnel and equipments and obtained the outstanding achievements in terms of deep foundation pit supporting, highway slope reinforcement and road foundation settlement and reinforcement, the foundation reinforcement of bridge in danger and dilapidated houses in North China and Central China and Northwest. The Institute purchased YZY-680 Hydraulic Static Pile Driver in 2001, which not only filled the gap in large tonnage static pile in Northwest but also completely improved the backward situation in low bearing capacity of pile. With the increasing of the high-rise buildings and super high rise buildings, there are more and more projects in China adopting rotary drilling rig, in 2002, the Institute purchased 3 rotary drilling rigs, after they have been put into operation, the rotary drilling rig is getting more and more favor from proprietors due to fast drilling speed, good piling quality, high bearing capacity of pile;

The test center established in 1994 comprises of geotechnical test room and detection room. The center holds the Qualification Certificate for Artificial Foundation detection issued by Ministry of Construction, and has strong strength and influence power in artificial foundation detection in Shaanxi Province, and its technical force and equipment configuration and task undertaking come out top among the 23 detection stations in the Province. Since its establishment, it has already completed more than 10,000 detection items nationally and accumulated rich practical experience in file foundation load bearing mechanism and low strain, static pressure method for pile testing and obtained much comparison data between the dynamic and the static in many areas in China. In order to ensure the investigation quality, in 2007, it set up in situ test group, which made the in situ test play an increasing important role in engineering investigation.

Shaanxi Wanji Construction Supervision Co., Ltd established in 2000 holds the Second Grade Qualification certificate for Supervision issued by Shaanxi Provincial Department of Construction and has already undertaken the constructions of No.49 high rise residential building in Mingdemen, expert building for Shaanxi Provincial Occupational Training Center, 8# residential building of Shaanxi No.2 Automobile Factory.

For the past 40 years, the Institute has undertaken the construction tasks of non-ferrous metals bases such as Baiyin, Jinchuan, Zhongtiaoshan, Jinduicheng, Hejing, Jiaozuo, Xining, Qingtongxia etc. and iron and steel industrial bases such as Anshang, Benxi, Taiyuan, Shanghai Baoshan, Beijing etc. and petroleum production bases such as Shengli, Zhongyuan, Yidong, Qinghai, Tarim; the design, construction, consultation and supervision for engineering investigation and geotechnical engineering for municipal construction such as Xi’an, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Haikou, Tianjin etc. in addition, it also participated in international cooperation projects such as Iraq etc.
